Thursday, August 14, 2025 (Court Day #840)

When I went home from work around noon to eat lunch and grab my pickleball gear, I discovered that both of my shorts that I use for pickleball were in the running washing machine. (Honestly, I can’t complain. My wife does such a great job keeping our household in order.)

I quickly debated in my head what I wanted to do.
Did I want to waste 20 minutes of my pickleball time going home to grab my shorts later after work?
Did I want to skip playing altogether?
Did I want to grab my black sweatpants and maybe be a little extra warm but still play and get the most time?
In the end, I did grab my sweatpants to play in and save a trip home. 

Skypark

It was sunny and 70° when I headed to Skypark at 6:30 p.m. after work. Today would likely be the last day of me playing in Skypark before the contractor hired by the City of Scotts Valley would start their court resurfacing work on Monday.

I’m a bit overdue for getting a haircut, maybe I’ll get one on Sunday afternoon since I won’t be teaching after all due to the resurfacing going on.

Going back and editing this later, apparently the evening was so uneventful that I made no notes about any games. Oh, well!

The lights clicked off at 8:31 p.m.

This Instagram post claims:

According to The International Institute of Sexy Sports Studies (IISSS), pickleball has officially been named the sexiest sport in the world. In their

“2025 Heat Index,” pickleball scored an unprecedented 10/10 in the

‘Flirtation-to-Fitness Ratio.’ Few sports blend athleticism, charm, and connection like it. The study cited several irresistible factors.

Of course, there is no such organization as the “International Institute of Sexy Sports Studies” and it’s totally tongue-in-cheek.
