Thursday, June 7, 2018 (Court Day #156)

I arrived at Skypark just before 7 p.m. Four courts were full. There was a young woman named Alison sitting on the bench. She was just hanging out waiting for her male companion to finish playing so that she could leave.

I’d be playing later against Cam (leftmost, redhead) and Rob (rightmost, “N” shoes).

Shortly after, Janet and Bruce came, though I didn’t play a game with them all evening. Stuart made a very rare Scotts Valley appearance. I can’t even remember the last time I saw Stuart there. I got a game against him. As the month continue to pile up,

There was a new younger guy—30s/40s—Brennan, who just this week moved to Aptos from out of state. He’s  good player with very hard shots. He’ll be a fun one to play against going forward!

Rob hit an overhead smash when we were all at the net and the rocketing ball hit me square in the nose! Ouch! No blood, fortunately, but my nose still stung a bit even two hours later.

Oleg and I got at least four games against Rob and Cam, maybe even five. And they were  battles. Rob and Cam have really be coming along and sadly got the best of Oleg and me in every game. Oleg had number of really great shots and a few bloopers. I had a couple great shots and the solid majority of our bloopers. I have to keep those dinks down and dial in my drop shots.

We wrapped up the last game at 9:30. What a fantastic night. And I’ve been able to play three times this week. That’s as much as I’ve played in the previous three weeks combined. (Not the best scenario leading into a tournament weekend.) The next time that I’ll play will be in Santa Rosa at the tournament on Sunday.

Number of days on a court: 156
Number of total hours: 429.5
