Friday, May 10, 2024 (Court Day #658)

With Mauricio walking his kids to school and me taking my wife’s and my older corgi to a vet appointment, Mauricio and I couldn’t start at 7:30 a.m. like last time. My intention was to get to the vet appointment 10 minutes early, but even with that, I managed to be five minutes late instead. Kind of silly! Five minutes could be attributed to wrangling the dogs and getting one of them into the car.

As it was, by the time Mauricio and I were at the common-use tennis court behind his group of houses, and had the net set up, it was almost 9:30 p.m. This time, we used his full-sized net instead of my short practice net.

I had a funeral to get to this morning so I couldn’t stay longer than 10 o’clock. I set the alarm on my phone.

You can see the cracks in the court surface even from high up!

For the approximate 30 minutes we had to drill, we just did straight-ahead dinking to forehand and backhand, then crosscourt dinking, forehand and backhand, switching locations along the net.

We passed the time drill by chatting about local players and the pickleball scene in town. My phone alarm went off after what seemed like a short time. Even a short time drilling is better than no drilling. Hands down.
